Meet Tim Brown

Timothy A. (Tim) Brown was born and raised in Montgomery County, Virginia. A graduate of Blacksburg High School and Radford University, Tim's life has been shaped by this community and the values it represents.

Raised in a law enforcement family by William H. "Bill" Brown, former Chief of Police in Blacksburg, Tim learned early the importance of integrity, fairness, and service to others.

With more than 26 years in law enforcement, Tim has built a career dedicated to protecting and serving the people of Montgomery County. From his early days on patrol with the Christiansburg Police Department to his current role as Lieutenant of Investigations, Tim has demonstrated the leadership, professionalism, and commitment that Montgomery County deserves in a Sheriff.

Tim's journey in law enforcement began in 1999 when he joined the Christiansburg Police Department. Over the years, he rose through the ranks — from patrol officer to sergeant, from FTO coordinator to special operations lieutenant — earning the respect of colleagues and community members alike.

In 2023, Tim graduated from the prestigious FBI National Academy — one of the most respected law enforcement leadership programs in the world. That same year, he was appointed Lieutenant of Investigations, where he leads complex criminal cases with precision and accountability.

Tim Brown doesn't just serve Montgomery County — he is Montgomery County. His roots run deep, his record speaks for itself, and his vision is clear: a Sheriff's Office built on professionalism, transparency, and accountability for every resident.
